Accessibility

A secure, council-approved pavement gully that lets you charge at home without creating hazards or breaking regulations.

According to Designability, one in five people in the UK are disabled, and it’s estimated there will be 2.7 million disabled drivers or passengers on UK roads by 2035.

Making home EV charging accessible to everyone is central to our mission. That’s why we’re developing an accessibility tool designed to support people who may find it difficult to bend to ground level when using Charge Gully.

Inclusive Design for Everyday EV Charging

Accessibility Tool Prototype

The prototype takes the form of a lightweight hand tool with a key mechanism at one end and a hook at the other. This allows users to unlock the channel, lift the lid, and guide the charging cable through safely and easily.

Because the lid is rigid, the cable can be pulled through the channel in a single, smooth movement, without needing to feed it along the full length of the gully. This reduces strain, improves ease of use, and makes daily charging more accessible.

The prototype has been tested in a workshop environment by Motability Operations, and we are now preparing for real-world trials.

Watch the demonstration video below to see how the tool works in practice.

Get started

Our channel is also compliant with the Department for Transport guidance Inclusive Mobility - A Guide to Best Practice on Access to Pedestrian and Transport Infrastructure as it does not leave a gap in the pavement and the channel is installed flush with the pavement surface.
